Surviving Weekly XVII: {7.16.18}

I Am #InMyFeelings

Every time my house is messy I think to myself, “ugh, I have three kids, of course it is messy,” and that helps me sleep better that night.  Each time I go a day or two too long without washing my hair, I whisper “it’s OK Cristy you’re tired- you have three kids maybe you’ll have more energy tomorrow.”  When I show up 30-45 minutes late to an event I say, “I’m sorry. I just had a hard time dressing all three kids and myself.  Time just slipped away.”  The person, who arrived on time to the event,  always replies that my lipstick is on my teeth or that a button is off on my shirt because as we just discussed- I have three kids and I just can’t keep my life together.

So today, I want to thank Kate Middleton for ruining this excuse for me forever.  What did she do? She released photos from her son, Louis’ baptism.  Sounds innocent enough, right?  Well it has forced me to take a long hard look in the mirror and realize that perhaps it’s not that I have three kids that makes it difficult to keep my life in order, but that I’m just clearly a hot mess.  So I’m going to wash my hair today.

Have a great week!
xx

Drake released his new album, Scorpion, last month.  This album already had a viral song featured, if you remember his God’s Plan video where he took a nearly million dollar budget and handed it out to people who needed it most.

Well Drake’s new song In My Feelings  [click HERE to listen} just came up and stole the show.  It wasn’t even planned to be his new single.  Drake had released Doesn’t Matter(feat. Michael Jackson) but the internet knew better and Drake had to act accordingly.

Some of you may know what I’m talking about here.  But for those of us who have been watching random celebrities or maybe even some of your own friends on your feed doing a dance, or hopping out of a car to do a dance, and wondering what is going on.. here is the deal.

An internet comedian named Shoker of The Shiggy Show, who is constantly doing hilarious dance moves and making epic rants on his Instagram, free-styled this dance when he was in his feelings (like that?) listening to the album and the challenge went viral.  I am talking over 2.5 million people tweeting and completing the #inmyfeelingschallenge or the #dotheshiggy or the #kikichallenge

Click the image to see the original dance.

I have to be honest.  I wasn’t into flossing, but this- this I tried. Shiggy was kind enough to break it down on a tutorial for all of the people without rhythm HERE. Go ahead and click it, try the dance.  You don’t have to put it up on the internet, but if enough of you want me to post mine I will.

If you haven’t had a chance to see all your favorite celebrities getting into their feelings here are some of my favorites all of them are pretty AWESOME!
Drake himself got in on it
Sterling K. Brown & Susan Kelechi Watson (Randall & Beth Pearson- This is Us)
Shay Mitchell & King Bach
Cast of Queer Eye
Ciara and Russel Wilson

BUT no one, and I mean NO ONE beat Will Smith

Even Drake hit up the comment section saying, “Wow. The video is done.” Justin Timberlake also commented saying “FTW” which for all of us who like words spelled out means, “For the Win.”

TV Addict Update
As we have established, time and time again, I watch too much TV.

Currently Watching:  finally started Money Heist and I am hooked.  It happened quickly about 10 minutes into the first episode.  Make sure you watch it in Spanish with English subtitles.  It’s much more powerful that way.  In English it was a little soft.  Let me know what you think!

What’s on my list to watch next? Downtown Abbey- I know, I know! I haven’t watched.  It’s almost blasphemous.  I am on it!

I think the nominees this year were kind of on point with a few notable snubs.
It’s a shame that Emilia Clarke and Kit Harrington were not nominated for their work in Game of Thrones.  Seems almost impossible.
The Good Place should have grabbed a nomination for best comedy.   This show is genius and absolutely hysterical.   If you haven’t seen it- you MUST!

Orange is the New Black: Season 6 is upon us.  It is set to premier next Friday, July 27.  While we wait check out the new trailer HERE

Glow: (Netflix) I finished Season 2 over the weekend and I loved it! The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling are hilarious.  It’s a light and quick show, so it is perfect after something as heavy as The Handmaid’s Tale. I like the direction the show took this season, and think they left it off perfect at the end for a big change.

SPOILER ALERT: Do not read if you are not caught up

The Handmaid’s Tale Rant:  (Hulu) This season of Handmaid’s Tale was grueling. I cried, I cheered, I yelled at the TV, and when June did not get on that truck at the end I literally threw my remote.  For a solid two days I was angry about it.  At one point I  vowed to not watch the next season, because this was bull shit.

Then in a rare move, I calmed down.  I started to come around to the idea of her staying in Gillead.  I started to understand how it would be impossible for any mother to leave a child behind in these circumstances.  But what I finally understood is that maybe June saw hope.  Hear me out.

At the beginning of the season, June is pregnant and living in a Gillead where there is not even a sliver of hope for change.  Getting out is the only way.  She hasn’t seen Hannah in years, and the chances of finding Hannah and getting out of there are slim to none.  But slowly over the course of the season things start to shift.

The revolution is beginning.  There’s an explosion taking out several Generals and Commanders.  Serena, with June’s help, begins writing laws and giving out orders while Commander Waterford is in the hospital.  The wives of the Commanders come together to petition for girls to be able to read.  June is seeing all of these pieces come together over the course of her pregnancy.  So when she arrives at the truck and sees that Emily is also there, and she was escorted by Commander Lawrence, the architect and leader behind Gillead – she knows the tide has turned.  If Lawrence is on their side…  If Serena is on their side…  If the Martha’s can orchestrate such an elaborate “Underground Railroad” escape…  If Nick can stand up to the commander….  Then maybe there IS a way for her to save Hannah and everyone else who is oppressed and imprisoned in Gillead.

I think it’s bad ass.  She could have gotten on the truck and never looked back.  But she’s a mother.  She’s a warrior.  She’s going to light this place on fire. PRAISE BE BITCHES!

Bachelor Nation- Assemble! Last week we made it to that part of the season where Becca pretends to struggle over who she is going to pick for hometown dates.  We have 6 guys and two have to go home between Colton, Jason, Garrett, Blake, Wills, and Leo…
